Senior Service To Host Relay for Life

Senior Service will be hosting the annual Relay for Life on April 21. The event will be held at the high school football field from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Senior Service is looking for different teams to join in on the festivities at relay. Teams set up inside the track and hold games or sell food to raise money as donations to the American Cancer Society. The goal this year is to raise $36,000.

On Wednesday, January 11, Senior Service hosted a kickoff to inform newcomers about Relay For Life. Senior Service members discussed the events and activities planned for the event.  Seven people, not including Senior Service class members, attended the kickoff. Laura Buckert was the guest survivor speaker, and she told her story about her battle with breast cancer.

At the event, two new teams joined. Senior Service is still looking for more teams. Teams can sign up anytime, even the night of the event. Mrs. Angell, Senior Service sponsor, encourages more teams to participate. “We would love for more people to get involved and more teams sign up.  If you have questions, please see a student in the Senior Service class or me,” said Angell.

Individuals can sign up a team or join a team for free. Sign up at to be a part of the fundraiser.
