Fall Sports Poll: CHS Athletes Have High Expectations for Fall Sports Season

Mitchell Jennings- Cheerleading

What are your expectations for this season?

To place higher when we compete and for everyone to work and have fun.

What position do you play for your team?

I’m a back, a base and main tumbler.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

I get to compete with other teams, and it challenges me. Also, I get to be with my friends more.

Brooke Schnarre- Cheerleading

What are your expectations for this season?

I expect this to be a great year. We have a lot of talented athletes who are working hard for competition and putting in a lot of practice.

What position do you play for your team?

Flyer and base.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

My favorite part about cheer is getting the crowd pepped up about games and assemblies. I like being a part of a team that can work together.

Gwendolyn Bostick- Softball

What are your expectations for this season?

I expect to lead my team and have us improve on our fundamentals.

What position do you play for your team?

Pitcher, third base, and shortstop.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

It’s something I’ve put my heart into for so many years. Playing softball is the thing I have the most fun doing.

Anna Romine- Softball

What are your expectations for this season?

My expectation for this season is to have a winning season and go as far as we can in the playoffs. Everything about the program is changing, but I love the direction that softball is taking. We’re all excited to play for Coach Murphy and see where the season goes.

What position do you play for your team?

Second and third base.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

My favorite part is being able to rely on each other and having a million inside jokes with each other.

Renee Teel- Girls’ Golf

What are your expectations for this season?

The whole team to be one of the top teams and go to sectionals.

What position do you play for your team?

Second varsity.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

The practice and it’s a lifelong game/sport.

Hannah Pendergrast- Girls’ Golf

What are your expectations for this season?

My expectations for this season are getting better scores than last year, trying to be on varsity, and having fun.

What position do you play for your team?

I am on JV for now.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

My favorite part about being a part of the team is that everyone is so supportive and fun to be around.

Madison Smith- Volleyball

What are your expectations for this season?

To win districts.

What position do you play for your team?

Setter.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

I enjoy the game and all the people I play with.

Sarah Spires- Volleyball

What are your expectations for this season?

To grow stronger as a team because teamwork is key.

What position do you play for your team?

Outside hitter.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

Making friends throughout the team.

Mackenzie Lynn- Cross Country

What are your expectations for this season?

My expectations are to have a healthy season and finish out my last year strong.

What position do you play for your team?

I’m on the JV girls’ team.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

PASTA FEEDS! Free food is always the best.

Peyton Davis- Cross Country

What are your expectations for this season?

My expectations are to have fun at every meet. I would like to break 18:00 in at least one race, so I can improve from last year, even without training for it. 

We changed classes! This makes it more difficult in postseason races, but the challenge is fun.

What position do you play for your team?

I am a part of the varsity team.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

Cross Country is not fun without the team, so working with the rest of the team to make it enjoyable is my favorite part.

Gus Stidham- Football

What are your expectations for this season?

Make it to the district championship game because that’s something we are all striving to get.

What position do you play for your team?

Running back and linebacker.

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

Spending time with friends.

Christian Barrett-Gerhardt-Football

What are your expectations for this season?

I expect all of us to grow as a family and create a bond where all of us can rely on each other throughout high school.

What position do you play for your team?

Right guard

What is your favorite part about playing the sport and/or being a part of the team?

My favorite part of playing football is definitely the idea that if we suffer or succeed we do it together. No one is alone.
