Foster Interns at Hubbell Power Systems

By: Rebecca Hudson, Contributing Writer

Quentin Foster is a senior at Centralia High School, and he is spending some of his class time interning at Hubbell Power Systems through the high school’s FLEX program.

Foster wants to be an engineer after high school, so he is interning at Hubbell to gain some field experience. He is working in the engineering department in the Allen Street building under Heidi Sims, a design engineer.

While at Hubbell, Foster has learned about 3D models, engineering changes and the qualifications needed to be an engineer. He also has been gaining knowledge about a 3D modeling program called Inventor. Using that program, he makes 2D sketches into 3D models of assembly parts. He also uses the program to remodel and update parts for manufacturers and buyers.

After Foster graduates from high school in May, he plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, to earn a degree in mechanical engineering. Eventually, he plans to earn a master’s degree in engineering and design his own products. This internship offers Foster invaluable experience in his career field.
