It’s Chick Time!

This week in kindergarten, each classroom received an incubator and a dozen eggs. We have been learning  a lot of vocabulary about chicks, such as: egg tooth, incubator, pip, and embryo. This is one of our favorite units in kindergarten as it pairs perfectly with our research writing and compliments our science unit on living things. Besides reading many nonfiction books, we have been able to observe egg models of how the chick grows in 21 days as well as discuss the chicken life cycle. We love looking at our eggs each morning and monitoring for any changes. We should hear some “cheep cheeps” early next week!

Students will explore the life cycle of a chick in a visual and hands-on way. Twenty-one eggs crack open to reveal realistic illustrations.
