Hannah Pendergrast, CHS junior, will be attending the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar in Annapolis, Maryland. Out of the three weeks offered, Pendergrast is participating in the camp that begins Saturday, June 16 and ends Thursday, June 20.
Pendergrast is the daughter of Andrew and Stella Pendergrast. She is the sibling of Jessica, Jacob and Amy Pendergrast. While in high school, she has been involved in girls’ golf, band, track, student council, SKRUBS and FBLA. She is also part of SkillsUSA through CACC. Additionally, she works at the Centralia Veterinary Clinic after school and participates in activities with her church.
While at this camp, Pendergast will be living in the dorms, attending physical training, learning the terms of the midshipmen, participating in athletics and attending courses provided by the United States Naval Academy. Attending this camp will give Pendergrast a better idea of what to expect if she were to attend the United States Naval Academy after graduating from high school.
Pendergrast is planning on majoring in oceanography while in college. She applied for this seminar to help her prepare for life during college. Pendergrast said, “I wanted to experience the life a midshipman lives at the Naval Academy, since I plan on applying for the Naval Academy for college.”
