Something special we start early in Kindergarten is making and creating class books, that evolve as the school year goes on. So far our class books have consisted of writing activities involving the students names and their friends names, or a particular book such as No David!, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, The Kissing Hand and the Mrs. Wishy Washy series, plus many more as we continue different themes each week. We also use special occasions and celebrations as inspiration for a class book such as field trips and holidays! Each student contributes with their own page by using the writing objective taught, once they are finished we hang them in the hallway to display our hard work. After they are displayed for the week the teachers bind them into a class book and each student gets a turn to take each book home and show their families their hard work. Once each student has had a turn with the book they become apart of our classroom library. At the end of the year the teachers turn the class books into a special surprise for each student.
