Centralia High School’s Quiz Bowl team is looking forward to a successful season that will begin in January.
There are 16 Quiz Bowl members this season. The returning seniors are Jacob Bentlage, Caroline Million and Ben Ray. The Quiz Bowl team has returning members as well as new freshman talent. Dr. Andrew Darr, Quiz Bowl coach and English teacher, said, “I have high hopes for their performance this season. Centralia performs well every year, but I have hopes for a conference win and qualification for nationals.”
Darr said, “We have some incredibly strong juniors this year like Thomas Hudson and Andrew Rish, and our sophomore players like Terra Veazey, Ryan Miller and Bradley Werkmeister have been performing incredibly well in practice.”
During Quiz Bowl practice, the group runs through Quiz Bowl games, but members also take the time to work on more detailed subjects such as Italian fine art, Shakespearian literature or microbiology.
The typical Quiz Bowl season runs from January through March, but the postseason can sometimes run up until May. The Quiz Bowl team will host four home matches: January 23, January 30, February 13, and February 27.
Darr said, “I am really excited about our potential performance this year! Go Panthers!”
