As first semester draws to a close, 8th Graders are studying the Action / Reaction chain of events that led the 13 American colonies to declare their independence from Great Britain. They have studied the laws and taxes enacted by Great Britain, as well as the feelings of the colonists toward them. We have seen the escalation of response from anger, to organized boycotts, to mob violence. The students are empathizing with the colonists and are seeing the natural human desire for freedom and indepence.
We will end the quarter at the brink of the American Revolution with an assessment over the content we have covered thus far.
