E-mail Print PDF

The CBMS Panther track team hosted the CBMS Invitational track meet on April 12, 2013.  The teams attending were: Centralia, Columbia Catholic, Macon, Jeff Jr., Monroe City, and Holy Rosary.  Centralia competed as two separate teams since we have so many kids out.

The CBMS girls won the meet handily, beating second place Jeff Jr. by 59.5 points.  The CBMS boys finished second to Jeff Jr. by 40.5 points.  CBMS won the Combined Boys/Girls with 277.5 points.

Complete results are available here: http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/MeetResults.aspx?Meet=190591#39036

*NOTE - the results above have Centralia's two teams combined.  If you want the results with them separated, see the attached files.

Next week, CBMS travels to Bowling Green on Tuesday and then hosts the Boone County Relays on Friday.

What should I do in the Off-Season?

E-mail Print PDF

Before next year there are some things that players can work on in the off-season.

1. Most importantly they should stay active and physical. Do this by playing other sports, walking/running for “fun”, or participating consistently in PE.

2. There are volleyball clubs in the area that play competitive volleyball during the winter. Those teams assemble early November usually.

3. Find a friend, teammate, or family member and practice passing. You can buy a volleyball at most sporting goods stores for about $10.

4. The high school will be putting on a camp in the summer. It is a good idea to get extra help outside of regular season so that when our season starts we spend more time practicing those skills rather than teaching those skills.

5. Watch volleyball! Go to a local college game or high school game. Look at what you are working to become. Watch the awesome teamwork and dedication to their sport.

Have fun the rest of the school year and this summer and Coach Hagedorn and Coach Carey look forward to seeing you play in the future!

All Good Things Must End

Well it has been another great volleyball season at CBMS. The volleyball teams have finished their season as of Saturday, October 13. The girls continued to improve on fundamental skills and teamwork all season and both coaches are very proud of their accomplishments.

The seventh grade team finished their season with a record of 5-5 with wins against Bowling Green, Mexico, Kirksville, and Fulton. Many of them came to the first practice with very little knowledge of volleyball or team sports, but as the season progressed fans in the stands would be able to see the improvement as a team. Coach Hagedorn looks forward to coaching all of these girls next year as eighth graders.

The eighth grade team finished their season on Saturday at the Hannibal Tournament where they placed 4th out of 8 teams. They defeated Hannibal “black” and Mexico during pool play to put them playing for 3rd in the tournament bracket. They played a close, hard fought game against Hannibal “red” but fell in 2 sets.

Coach Carey and Coach Hagedorn are very proud of this season’s accomplishments! They both look forward to next season and hope the girls have a great off season!
