In the event of inclement weather, the Centralia R-VI Schools will notify parents of school cancellations with a School Reach phone call, local TV stations, radio stations, and the Centralia School Website.  Parents are urged to turn on their radio, television, or log onto this website when there is a question of school closing rather than trying to contact the school or local media.

In case of severe weather school closing information, the following stations will be listing cancellations for Centralia Public Schools:

School administrators and bus personnel will evaluate the road conditions between 4:30 and 6:00 a.m. on days when weather is a concern.  Every attempt is made to notify the media by 6:00 a.m. if possible.  In the event that weather conditions are such that more time is needed, notice of cancellations will occur no later than 7:00 a.m.

On days when school is dismissed early due to weather conditions, parents should turn to one of the radio stations, TV stations or check out our website listed above.  Parents are encouraged to notify child-care providers or make other necessary arrangements during inclement weather conditions. 

In the event that the majority of the road conditions are acceptable for travel but not all, the school district will run Snow Routes Only.  To view the entire list of Snow Routes click here.

If the Centralia R-VI School District experiences snow days during the 2012 - 2013 school year, these days will be made up in the following order, unless that date has already passed:

Feb. 15

April 26

April 1

May 17

May 20 and on as needed

Centralia R-VI Public School District is located in the northeast corner of Boone County and western portions of Audrain County. There are approximately 1350 students that attend 4 different campuses composed of seven buildings housing a preschool, elementary, intermediate, middle school, high school, vocational sciences, and alternative school.  All of the buildings are located in Centralia, which is the major urban center for the district.

Over the last year the district has experienced a 3.5% increase in enrollment.  Student to teacher ratios have remained stable at about 18 students for every classroom teacher which is the same as state averages.

The Centralia R-VI School District has current expenditure of $8,221 per ADA student. Its assessed valuation is $83,780,770 and the tax levy is $3.4695 with a $0.89 debt service. The total revenue that comes from local sources is 45%, 45% from state sources, and 8% from federal sources (Centralia R-VI Schools 2009-2010 annual Report). Fifty percent of the professional staff has advanced degrees.
