As the school year approaches there will be some changes to the district. One of these changes is the Centralia R-VI School District will no longer be dismissing school at 2:17 p.m. on Wednesdays. This means students will be dismissed at 3:12 p.m. everyday of the week. According to Mr. Ford, "The years that we utilized the early out for professional development has created a school climate of cooperation and teamwork. The truth is, with our work on curriculum and student achievement we have evolved to need larger blocks of time". He also stated that he knew of the general hardship Wednesday Early Outs caused on parents to have students dismissed differently on one day compared to the rest.
"I believe the new schedule will be positive for teacher development, student achievement and consistency for parent schedules..." responded Mr. Ford when asked if the longer development times would be beneficial.
