The Centralia R-VI School Board of Education met Monday night (October 8, 2012) for its monthly meeting of the Board. Here are the highlights of the meeting:
In my report I updated the board on the status of our application for the Boone Electric Rural Development Loan. The loan is for $360,000 at 0% interest. $300,000 of that is funded by the USDA and the other $60,000 is invested by Boone Electric. This loan will help finance the districts new HVAC system at CBMS. It’s a great opportunity obviously for the district. What’s interesting about the loan is that as the district pays it back, Boone Electric reinvests it in local communities with 0% financings. I finished by updating the board on the early childhood house across from Chance Elementary. The district has made arrangements to tear the house down within the month. Long term plans will provide for additional parking on the vacant lot.
